Day 659 - I've Got Gadgets And Gizmos A-Plenty

Shoes: Black wedge 'Superstar' Bertie

So speaking of wearing the same outfit twice, I had a bit of a dilemma on Sunday and ended up wearing the exact same dress and shoes that I'd already worn earlier in the week.  Shocker I know!  I was going on a birthday picnic with the family and these shoes are the most 'sensible' I own.  I knew there would be grass, sand, chips and dirt and so these covered all bases and are not too pretty to get dirty!  I'd really wanted to wear this dress because it had been so comfortable and it was scorching on Sunday and this is light and airy but has good coverage for sun exposure.  I had no idea how much of a challenge it was to remain tan-free (or in my case burn-free), there was absolutely no shade, we were extremely exposed and I could feel myself melting after two minutes!  I hate that feeling that you're actually 'sizzling'!  I had my SPF50 on and a huge, pretty parasol for shade and thankfully it worked wonders and I'm still as blue as usual!  I'm quite a stickler for sun-safety if you can't already tell!  These pics aren't the greatest and I was rather dishevelled and icky-sticky by the time I took them.  Today and yesterday I've not been properly dressed, so normal service will resume as of tomorrow as I'm all caught up on the backlog.  The weather has taken yet another turn and it was rather chilly today.

Wearing: Parrot print dip-hem dress Dorothy Perkins, cardigan Be Beau at Matalan, sunglasses Prada, scarf Fafi/MAC, multi-charm necklace Debenhams, blue ring my Granny's, owl ring Primark, flat owl ring (part of set) H&M, frog ring and teapot pearl bracelet Miss Selfridge, bird on branch ring Topshop.
Fit: True to size, back zip so you don't have to adjust the buckles every time. 4 3/4" wedge heel.
Comfort: No issues with these.

Day 658 -They Fall Apart Like Marilyn Monroe

Shoes: Turquoise 'Margaux' wedges Terry De Havilland

A quick look above at my blog banner and you'll notice I've worn these shoes with this dress before. I was aware of it when I picked it, but the other option was yet another pair of shoes I'd already worn with the dress. Given that the last time this duo was seen was September 2010-I think you can forgive me! I was keen to take advantage of the decent weather last week and get my maxi-dresses out. I have no issues with wearing maxi's with boots or more wintery shoes in colder weather, it's the coat/jacket situation that limits me. I think they work best with a short jacket, denim or leather for example and I don't own either. I have tonnes of coats but they are all reasonably full-skirted and that in-between length and I run the risk of looking like I just stepped off the Dr Quinn set! It was quite a lazy-thrown together outfit and yet another day without makeup because of the heat!  I think I may just have one more outfit post then I'm caught up, you'll be pleased to hear ; )

Wearing: Parrot print maxi G21 at Asda, black cardigan Be Beau at Matalan, sunglasses Prada.
Fit: True to size, adjustable buckle. 5 1/2" wedge heel and 1 1/4" platform.
Comfort: No issues with these.

Day 657 - You Must Be A Football Coach The Way You Got Me Playin' The Field

Shoes:  Leopard print peep toes Lotus Hallmark

It's amazing how some good weather can lift your mood.  Although I also feel a huge pressure to get outside every day (while it's 'still nice'), it just seems like a waste to be indoors when I should be taking advantage of the weather-situation! I'm resting today though because I've been pushing myself a little hard with my walks and endless trips to the dentist.  I wish it could be something more fun that I'm suffering for! I'm hoping to get caught up on some posts I missed last week, starting with this outfit from Friday.  I purchased this skirt on my last Primark trip which seems like months ago...it was maybe 'a' month ago. The waist is a perfect fit on me, the length and fullness of the skirt make me look a little bottom heavy and hippy though, but for that 50's feel and adorable print I'll let it go!   It was mega-hot, so I couldn't be bothered with makeup, just some sunscreen, a touch of concealer and blush and lipstick and balm.  I haven't worn these shoes for an eternity-I used to love them!  Isn't the little bow on the back mega-cute?

Wearing:  Scenic print skirt and blue bird scarf Primark,  cardigan Be Beau at Matalan,  Barbie vest Miss Selfridge, sunglasses 'Nikita' by Tom Ford.
Fit: True to size, 4 1/2" heel.
Comfort: Slingbacks can often be uncomfortable, but these are pretty amazing, they don't dig in, the slingback just sits in the perfect position at the back of your heel and there's a little elasticated bit inside which keeps them on whilst walking.

Day 656 - If You’re One Of Us, Then Roll With Us

Shoes: Beige pom pom 'Lady Dragon' Vivienne Westwood Anglomania & Melissa

Going to make this quick because I'm going out for a belated birthday picnic today (what does one wear to such a casual affair? Hmmm). This was my b'day outfit, as I'd said I spent most of the day by myself, but it was a pleasant enough day, certainly better than the disaster of last year! I wanted to wear a pretty dress, even if I wasn't going anywhere and this is my current favourite. The print is beautiful. Love the shoes too!

Wearing: Floral dress Dorothy Perkins, black cardigan Be Beau at Matalan, sunglasses Tom Ford 'Nikita', shoe print scarf gift, earrings ?
Fit: 4 1/4" heel, true to size.
Comfort: No issues with these.

Day 655 - Pistol Packing, Itchy Finger, Trigger Happy

Shoes: Wine suede and snakeskin 'Slink' Topshop

I really wanted to wear this dress on Wednesday but I wasn't sure which shoes to wear with it.  I need something with a bit of height because it is very long.  I feel like I need to check my shoe inventory again because I'm forgetting about some styles I own!  Anyway I spotted these and as I knew I had a little bit of walking to do (my millionth trip to the dentist and where I took this sneaky pic), they are pretty comfortable and I liked that the wine picked out the colours of the flowers in the dress.  I'm usually pretty fussy about which shoes go with what and would class these (although peep toes) as a more wintery, heavy shoe and perhaps too heavy for this floaty dress but actually it worked.  I felt so skinny in this outfit-I don't know where my tummy and hips went, the dress is pretty big anyway and it was just hanging off me!  I lost the weight again (that I'd put on over the past few months), but I shouldn't think it would make that much of a difference.

Wearing: Floral maxi dress ASOS Curve, tan 'camera' bag Primark, long pendant ASOS, pastel necklace Curiosity Cured, feather ear cuff (took a separate pic because I can never get a decent shot in my ear) and cream pearl cardigan Dorothy Perkins, tan belt (taken from dress) H by Henry Holland, sunglasses Prada, frog and unicorn rings Miss Selfridge, key ring either Primark or Miss S (I've forgotten!).
Fit: True to size, adjustable buckle fastening. 5 3/4" heel and 1 1/4" platform.
Comfort: No issues with these and reasonably easy to walk in.
